Advent Sunday.... The official start of the Christmas season... The countdown begins... But not with the hustle and bustle of tree trimming and twinkling lights, but with a journey....a mere child-girl, as we learned in church this morning... Mary, probably no more than 12 herself and Joseph only 14-16 years old. Really? God trusted the Savior of the world to mere tweens?
I so love how He works. The unexpected.... The deviation from the norm.... So His glory may be made known.... Fully known.
It was a day of preparation for our family today, that had wordly scents of "The tree's too big", "Great. We need more lights!", and "Uh-oh. I just stepped on the star that goes on top of the tree and broke it."
But, when the Advent wreath and book were brought out, the troubles of life found their place and we settled in to begin the journey.... Gabriel visits... News is given.... What?!....Me?! Oh, yes, Mary. You were favored and chosen, so that all who come after you and believe on Him may be favored and chosen, as well. And so, the journey begins. And all the preparation you really need is your heart.
