Hugh's birthday

This past weekend found us celebrating my Dad's 73rd birthday and Hugh's 39th birthday! What a cause for celebration....the two most amazing men in my life were born!!! We had a really great time. I let the boys make their own cake creations for Dad on Saturday and even wrap the gifts all by themselves. The pictures below tell more of the story than I can, and it was just a priceless afternoon. They were so proud of themselves for their accomplishment and really could not even hold it in....as soon as Hugh walked through the door the boys just started spilling all sorts of information about his presents, the cake, etc....it was just out of their control! I mean, who can design a "truck" cake or a "big building with a truck in front of it" cake and not just about explode if you didn't get it out as soon as you could. So, here are the pics....

The boys excitedly presented him with his new Titan's shirt and four tickets to the game with the Houston Texans. My mom and dad were going with me and Hugh on Sunday and this was how we were celebrating both my dad's birthday and Hugh's. Hugh was very excited, as it has been a long time since we have been to a game. My parents were just as excited, since neither one of them had ever been to an NFL game before. We all had a good time....It was VERY hot that day, which made it a lot more difficult for my dad, but God was so present that day in so many ways. I'll just say that it is not easy navigating a wheelchair around LP stadium and it was an eye-opener for me! We can do so much more to help people with disabilities of all kinds feel more "able" to function at a football game, or anywhere else for that matter. We were even told there was no handicapped parking on game days at LP field....WHAT?!?!? Our society really does have skewed priorities, but that didn't really matter....God sent more incredibly, wonderful people into our path that day that did everything from helping my father to the restroom to getting some cold water and towels when he had gotten a little overheated. It was a great day....one that will have good memories of all the good people in the world and the celebration of two incredible birthdays!!
